racemose inflorescence

A raceme is an inflorescence with a continuous main axis (cf. also cyme). These include, among other, terminal flowers (e. g. in Tulipa – Tulip), racemes (e. g. in Sinapis – Mustard and other Brassicaceae – Cabbage family members), panicles (e. g. in Poa – Bluegrass) or umbels (e. g. in Hedera – Ivy). This branching type corresponds to monopodial branching in woody plants.
