Spores are cells that have the potential to develop offspring without fertilization. In some Ferns, e. g. in Lycopodium – Clubmoss (but in principle also in the Spermatophytes), 2 types of spores exist, the large spores are named megaspores (or macrospores), the small spores microspores.
