Therophyte is one of the life-forms according to Raunkiaer: the life-cycle is limited to 1 growing season. Therophytes survive the unfavourable season as seeds (e. g. Papaver – Poppy) or dispersed perennating buds (e. g. turions in Trapa – Water Chestnut) (cf. also annual plant).
