A fruit represents the flower of Angiosperms at seed maturity. It consists of the seeds that mostly develop in tubular fused carpels. Occasionally, further parts of the flower are involved in assembly of the fruits (e. g. the fleshy flower-axis (flower-base) in Malus – Apple).
